Radeon HD 7850 - 'The PS4's GPU'

Some say that the Radeon HD 7850 is the closest thing we have to a comparative PlayStation 4 graphics card. While the reality is far more complicated, I thought we'd take a look at the 7850 and talk about what it can do.

On the topic of GPU optimization, I'd love to watch a comparison between GPUs of similar power but different architectures. Like a GTX 760 vs a 1050 vs an RX 560 vs a 270x. That would be cool to see!

I still use a Windforce model paired with a Xeon E3-1230 V2 and it's still running fine the games that I play, great buy for 38€ back in 2019

I have exactly the same 7850 as a spare GPU and was surprised when I tested it recently with a 1440p 144hz screen, it worked like a charm. It might be worth mentioning that this GPU supports extreme overclocking, you can easily get a 15-20% boost out of it.

Recently uploaded a video testing this with Apex Legends - and with a little overclock net me 60FPS average at 1080p. I was not expecting that kind of performance at all. So good to see how well games run on it now - considering it's super low price.

Amazing card, it managed to play even doom 2016 on medium and some tweaking. It hold my gaming needs till last summer that I got a 5500XT and now it serves me well in my workstation.

This video was very insightful. I have the Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr III and was wondering if you're thinking about making a video on its performance in 2021. Maybe I'll make a video on how it plays games in 2021 but I would rather you make the video since you're much better at explaining the technical aspects and and your overall presentation in video making is done exceptionally. I play lots of games with the 7950 at 30 FPS along with my FX 8320 although I have to lower the settings depending on the game in order to achieve 30 FPS or more. Can't wait for the next video. A friend gave me his old 7850 recently to hold me over during this GPU crisis, and it was running everything perfectly fine on low settings, hitting around 60 fps. Great card in a pinch!
