I can't believe some of those large salaries and such low assets. Save 15 percent of take home, invest it and let it compound. A portfolio is like a bar of soap, the more you handle it, the smaller it gets. I drive a 2003 vehicle, that I bought new (should have bought used). Hope to get another 5 years out of it.

Looks like America is such a consumerism economy. $47, 000-$147, 000 income and only $90, 000 wealth? $220, 000 annual income and only $470, 000 net worth? That is way too underwhelming, at least compared to here in Africa. I'm truly convinced an upper middle class to upper class guy in Africa, at least upto the $3M net worth range, has an exceptionally way better lifestyle than their equivalents in the USA.
No wonder we don't even need to finance our houses. Most of the middle class and rich people here can build their own homes without financing comfortably. And make no mistake a typical upper class guy spends jst about the same amount of money building a 500sqm home as it would cost in Woodlands, Houston or South Lake. But obviously, not the LA type mansions.
You seem to be against loans to finance things like cars...but here in Africa...the opportunity cost of paying for them cash is way too high. Why pay cash for a $200K car when I could jst finance it and use the 200K to make $600K minimum in a yr?

Seems like people in the USA are bogged down by consumerism that they have to continuously save or give up some personal pleasures to achieve that dream lifestyle.

It's a good country to be in though with better access to government amenities and u should consider yourself lucky. You have 30% of the world's money right in your own country.

Hey I’ve spoken to people from your firm. I wanted to know. When you say whole life insurance, are you talking about cash value (overfunded) life insurance or whole life insurance policies in general?
