Nasty little swell for the North Shore I can tell. I do like blackfishing on gray days as well. We don't see them anywhere near that size though down by me though. Always enjoy your videos.

Too bad that black sea bass dropped off.  Blackfish (tautog up in Boston) and black sea bass are both very nice for the table. Great video sir!

Always enjoy your videos!
With the jig just resting on bottom it doesn’t seem much different than using a basic bottom rig (except no twisting) do you think the jig/crab combo outfishes a bottom rig? I tend to fish party boats in deeper water so heavier jigs would be required. Cheers!

John Skinner Fishing You mentioned in a previous video that you use Bean waders.  I've been using stocking foot for years and I'm sick of the sand.  Do you recommend Flyweight or breathable?  I mainly fish central suffolk sand beaches (RM, Demo, Smiths Point, Wildwood, Sunken Meadow, Etc.) with 4 or 5 trips to Montauk per season.  What do you think is best?

Love watching Skinner, but Man, I can’t help but think those yacks are cold water death traps...

One trick i like to do is collect the scraps from my crabs like the legs and shells, and once i get enough i throw them in a chum pot and send that down to attract the fish in. Seems to work really well for me.

I have some questions on bass fishing
1.do you ever use teasers?
2.do you eat the bass you catch ?
3.i use a blue frog bucktail but it seem not to cast far do you only use it when you know there fish near the shore or on north winds?speaking from if you were fishing the south shore.

John, great video ... I learned a lot from it ... quick question ... it appears you have some GPS aboard ... do you also use a depth sounder to identify structure ?

John, when you bottom fish for blackfish, porgies, etc. in the kayak are you anchored over the structure or are you drifting?

Do you need a group of rocks at decent depths to find blackfish in the LI Sound or will solitary rocks do?  There are a lot of rocks by me, but most are solitary and probably at depths of only 10-15 ft.  Thanks.

Hey john sorry to bother but I had a question. What rig do you set the jig up with and what knots do you use? Thanks a lot

John, awesome awesome video -
Black fishes took every weight out of my tackle box & THE lug nuts off my car in 2013.
In 2014 I had a great porgy and stripe bass summer - by the time black fish season started, so did my son's basketball season, but I am ready for Black fishes in 2015. Can you give a hint where on the northshore you did this video?  Thanks

How do you find the time to fish so much? I'm jealous I wish I can get out there more often. Great job on the video. Do you ever use fidler crabs?
