Well put! The Pocket 3 does come with some trade-offs. The Ace Pro 2 really does offer the versatility for both action shots and vlogging. Sounds like a perfect upgrade for your needs!

I got the DJI Pocket 3 recently and it's fantastic. Great in low light. I use it for vlogs and walk videos. The battery does very well and it doesn't overheat (important where I live). Great comparison video sir, thank you.

Insta360 Ace Pro2 is the best in my opinion as a multi-purpose, durable and rugged camera. I need a camera that I will use both for content creation and as a personal security bodycam (so the durability and waterproof is a big plus).

after having pocket 3 for almost a year, i feel like replacing it with ace pro 2 (pocket 3 was my first cam). realised that i want to take more action vids than simply vlog. ace pro 2 can do both.
turns out i dont use most gimbal features that much. also i missed wide fov and pov footage that pocket 3 cant provide compared to ace pro 2.
most of accessories doesn’t work well with pocket 3 due to its tall structure with uneven weight distribution like backpack mount.
whenever i wanted to take interesting footage in the rain or snow i would be constantly worry about my pocket 3.
though i’ll miss the blur

Both are good choices, but as a motorcycle rider, I guess ace Pro 2 is a better choice for me.

Thanks for a great review. One of the things that has bothered me with my Pocket 3 is that it is not a fixed-focus camera. While have a camera that has a variable focus has its advantages, as you note in your review, I have found it a nuisance when trying to shoot through a window as the camera tends to focus on the window, especially if it has some dirt on it, and not the subject that is beyond the window. I have not found a work-around for this. Have you?

I'm interested in both, but DJI still seems too fragile..that lens and lack of waterproofing are kinda deal breakers for me. Leaning toward Insta.

I have both. I prefer the Ace Pro 2 for most of the day, but at night, I still prefer the Pocket 3. Even with the latest updates, the Ace Pro 2 still gets some jitters at night.

It really depends on the use... for a "casual traveller/tourist" aiming to record some videos for "personal use" without too much hassle, too much expense, too much weight and problems (the Pocket 3 is really quite fragile... I have read quite a bit of stories about it breaking while on a trip) the Ace Pro 2 could really be a nice option because it is less expensive, more compact and durable and the AI assistance makes up for the difference in sensor dimension quite a lot...

I was starting to have buyers remorse after getting the AP2 but with my use and deciding on getting a gimbal would be perfect and comparable to the OP3 in my opinion. My OP2 is still pretty decent so could not justify the upgrade to the OP3 and only upgrading the action camera cause my GoPro Hero 7 broke 😂

Personally, I prefer to shoot in 30 frames per second or 60 frames per second in log or flat 10 bit color. I also prefer at least higher than 4k so I can stabilize, correct framing in post without losing resolution. Regardless of how it’s achieved, horizon leveling is also a must. So yeah, neither one meets all my preferences making me want to wait to see if they improve things on both cameras.

That particular part only lasted less than a year for me on my ace pro one 2:32. It ended up making a lot of clicking noises in my video.
