Is the Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter Still Worth it? (REVIEW)

Today I’ll be taking the Thrustmaster TH8A H-pattern shifter through my review process, telling you all what I like, what I don’t like, and whether I think it's worth its near $200 price tag.

Love this shifter. Btw for the people asking for more resistance in the shifts, it actually has built in option to do that (it can get quite stiff actually). Not sure if it was mentioned in the video. Anyways, there is a small hole on the left side of the aluminum body (left side of 1st gear). You can then use a flat head screw driver to tighten a screw inside the hole, which increases resistance in shifts. Hope this helps

I love mine, never have had a problem with and works just the way I expected. Feels built very well also. I’ve had mine for probably 4 years now and have had no problem.

I've had my TH8A for a while now and I love it. It's got quite long throws in H-pattern mode, so you might not be able to shift as fast as with the Fanatec shifter or a sequential stick/paddles, but I find that's actually a good thing for trucksim, which is what I use it for most of the time anyway. Great video as always OC, I'm so glad I found your channel!

The TH8A is definitely one of the best shifters out there. I think random callsign still uses it despite him having full fanatec gear, shows you how good this thing is. Amazing review!

There is the option to turn this into a ebrake in the settings when on pc when you toggle the analog switch. I’ve used this for a bit before getting an actual ebrake. I also got a ricmotech short throw shifter kit last week and there’s a noticeable difference on shift feel and I feel much quicker shifting gears in assetto corsa

Something that you didn't mention is that the shift knob can actually be screwed of and the threads are somewhat standard so you can change the shift knob to a "real" car shift knob, if you want to. Or maybe even a shifter extender.

This shifter will be worth buying for another 10+ years, maybe even longer. Arguably one of the best gear box shifters for the price right now, quality feels like the real thing. If you find you're shifting has gotten a little slower just swap out the shaft for a shorter one :) The sequential plate is great too, but I find using the paddles on the wheel are best for competitive racing, and the shifter is an absolute pleasure to use when messing around with the boys. 10/10 shifter I got 0 complaints at all. it's an absolute workhorse and doesn't break either.

Bought mine about 7 years ago for $150. Still going strong to this day and I have done nothing to it. Haven't checked the grease or anything. Went to the auto parts store and bought a cheap universal tall shifter knob for it and threw it on for using it as a hand brake.

In mine I had to block the 7th gear, going from 6th to 5th or from 4th to 5th it could happen that the stick would go in the 7th slot. And also reduced the gap to insert the Reverse so that you would need some extra force to insert the Reverse.

I got this shifter along with the th t500 and fanatec clubsport v2's for free from a very kind guy last week and it's amazing how much better it feels than my old logitech momo

I bought the aliexpress h pattern for $75 and love it. Came with a sequential 3d printed add on too. It’s all metal and feels so good. Has the groves for shifting smoothly too.
