A cold sore may not be an STD, but if is caused by HSV 1 or 2, you have an STD. The location of the outbreak is irrelevant. A perfect example is gonorrhea being in a person’s eye. Would you also make the claim that someone can have gonorrhea and not an STD at the same time?
