I don watched you talk about the jumbo java for a year and was like “Jody Jazz is better” nope!! I’m rolling with Jumbo!! You’re the mouthpiece G.o.a.t out here in youtube verse!! 💯🙌🏽🤘🏽😎

I had a Lakey 7*3 for years. I found you could get a really wide range of tones on it, from subtone fuff-fuff-foos to laser bean ear-bleeders. The only down side was that I had to take the floor boards up and shave them down for reeds! Anything softer than a 3.5 and it became a very difficult beast to control - but nonetheless handy if you like burning calories while doing your long note practice. :)

Since I’m watching your channel I got this mouthpiece buying disease to the point that my wife is telling me that if instead of each mouthpiece you practiced one note you would have been someone by now! (lol...so true!) but anyway today I got my Claude Lakey 6*3 in the mail which I got it for a very reasonable price on eBay $59 CAD including a Rovner ligature both in very good condition and OMG this is a fantastic mouthpiece. You are absolutely right this mouthpiece to me sounds like best of both world you got your bottom end on the low register and enough brightness and power on higher registers with fantastic altissimo. I managed to hit some notes that never was able to do that before in altissimo register. This is a very under rated mouthpiece compare to other big names. Having said that I never tried Jumbo Java so I can’t compare these two but I have regular Vandoren Java T-45 which I also like a lot which is Ralph Bowen’s mouthpiece of choice.

I play the tenor jumbo 45 and I'm thinking of switching to Lakey.
I play them on alto and soprano.
I switched from jumbo java to Lakey on alto and like it better.
From listening to your video they seem very close but the Lakey sounds a bit more controlled, if that makes sense.

I think the Van won it for me. I picked one up on Amazon today.. they had a $15 off coupon too. I have some red 2.5 Java’s I’m gonna try. Keep up the killer work

To me the java seems to have a fuller sound than the lakey

Wow! That t45 really sounds nice when you play it. I own one and idk what I'm doing wrong but it just doesn't sound good. It's not that it has a ton of resistance or anything, just sounds thin and annoying sounding for me.

Amazing video as always! I like vandoren the most, feel like it has a bigger sound. It would be great u could get a JodyJazz Jet on Hard rubber to compare with those mps

Thanks for the video! What does the facing curve look like on the Lakey? I'm tryong to match the facing curve on tenor as my alto Beechler S6S short facing I'm playing an "M" facing Berg on tenor right now and it's just too hard to go between a short and longer facing.

Hello! Do you know the difference between the Claude Lakeys that says "Jazz 2" and the others that just say "Jazz"?? Thanks!

Great review, thanks for posting. I loved the Jumbo Java, but I couldn't get on top of the MP=shape of the beak on the Vandoren. Claude Lakey was much better for my embouchure, was my favorite MP. I really loved them, great MP for the $. I tried a variety of Cane reeds on the Claude Lakey, but the best reed (for me) that I found with Claude Lakey are Fibracells. There are some other players I know who tried a Fibracell with Claude Lakey and also had great results. Try it and see how it works.

I had one of those blue Jumbo Javas from the 80s A75.. Loved the power but after hearing how far my pitch was off in a concert I did a change up.. It didn't like to play well with other instruments..Bad boy!! Sold it a few years back.. those fabled blue ones are going for crazy prices now.. Now that I'm a bit better in embouchure department...maybe time to try a A45 or A55.. Definitely will pick up a T55 when I upgrade my tenor .

I think this gives me a quick conclusión of what Ur looking for based on all Ur previous vids.
Low baffle or no baffle with a 6*, 7 típ opening and Java red 3#.
