Within the domain of Systems Engineering many different complexities must be faced in each step of the life cycle. Some of them, are especially crucial and tedious, such as the complexity in the railway industry that arises when interfacing rolling stock with infrastructure. This becomes increasingly difficult when considering the sheer number of divergent tools used for each specific task and by different disciplines.
Each tool within this divergent catalogue contains what can be referred to as a Single Source of Truth (the latest version, detailed information regarding a particular process, etc.), meaning the “truth” or information regarding a particular aspect of the project that will always be managed inside them, as they possess the most suitable and advanced capabilities to do so.
With every Single Source of Truth managed within the external tools, we need a solution capable of playing the role of the Synchronized Source of Truth, providing connectivity and interoperability to and between every source, by offering both, operation, and transformation functionalities, and being always synchronized with them.
Considering these capabilities, having to re-iterate over resources & information already generated in previous project phases would become a thing of the past. Every element defined, regardless of the source type, could be operated with and transformed into its corresponding counterpart.
