This was my favorite movie as a child.

To me, that knife in his back is incredibly iconic. One of Hitchcock’s best films (my second favourite behind Vertigo)

Hermann of course went on with Hitchcock and composed the amazing music for Psycho and The Birds!

Interestingly, the scene shows McKenna's (Jimmy Stewart) hands wiping off some of the disguise makeup from Louis Bernard's face. In fact, the dark makeup that shows up on Stewart's hands did not "rub off" Bernard's face, but was placed on his hands prior to the scene being shot. Apparently, they could not get makeup "wiped" from Bernard's face to show up dark enough on camera.
