I Made a Mistake... - ASUS OLED PG42UQ

The 42" C2 that Linus JUST installed is great, but it's not a monitor. ASUS has released their PG42UQ based on the same panel, but now with less annoying ABL and proper wake-up functionality. Despite the great display, some things don't quite go according to plan...

If Asus allows it, keep the broken one and keep it on a static black/white checkerboard pattern and see how it deals with burn in.

I love how Asus stipulated in the sponsorship agreement that Linus was required to have a partner while lifting the monitor. I look forward to more sponsors adopting a "Linus lift assistance" requirement in their contracts in future.

This has all the essential elements of a good LTT video:
1. Linus drops something.
2. Things don’t work.
3. Writer gets frustrated with Linus because he’s out of control.
4. David giggles.

I admire Linus’ commitment to add more and more failure points

I have to say, seeing Linus getting lots of unexpected troubles doing setup work for something apparently simple, gives me confort about all those times I had a lot of troubles doing stuff that I thought was a super good idea to have at home

Mistakes were made, but the biggest mistake is the undescriptive title.

You know what I used to be super jealous of Linus' super expensive cool tech setups but when they put out videos like this of troubleshooting hell I start feeling pretty good about my humble single monitor setup in one room

I normally criticise Linus for lack of preparedness (seemingly) and planning, but this kind of a situation it's really worthwhile to demonstrate what kind of headaches you can experience with the more extreme/esoteric configurations of equipment. So, good work-ish Linus, crew, and Wendel!

Wendell is such a nice guy, to even offer a prototype product with expedited delivery date... Keep his friendship Linus, you're gonna need a friend like him!

With videos like this I would love to see a summary at the end explaining what was accomplished.

I’ve been watching LTT and similar channels in the community for a few years now and I like to think that I understand most of what’s happening in these niche projects. That said, with something as ambitious as the Sebastian Tech House project I’d love to have a better understanding of the connections being made by the end of the video. It’s entertaining nonetheless, but personally I feel more engaged when I have an idea of how attainable this type of setup could be for someone outside of this level of knowledge. <3

This is like the third monitor Linus has been given to rotate out his LG TV.

I love how Wendell is the guy every tech youtuber calls when they don't know what's happening

Am I horrible for thinking: "With that many electronics in your house, rgb and all, starting 5 years from now you'll be stuck in an endless repair loop'.

The quality of the videos recently has me so immersed into the story of what is happening, I subconsciously started thinking of this as a sort of episode. The narrative presented recently is astounding, especially considering it's just about some tech nerds. I love it. Keep the talent coming.

I'd imagine that the mounting holes on the right side of the monitor are used for NUC and other mini style PC's that don't have a lot of weight and could be mounted using only 2 screws. If that isn't the case, I have no idea what they'd be used for

Using the LG C1 as a monitor: Service remote can be used to disable the brightness limiter completely. Enable WakeonLan. Use a smart home setup (like homeassistant) and motion sensors / bluetooth / whatever to do presence detection. When you leave the desk/room, turn off the C1. *As you re-enter* turn it back on and (if needed) restore the input settings. This is super annoying but now works pretty flawlessly.

None of this matters, he's gonna swap out to another display when a new one comes out with minimal differences.

I'm still really not convinced that getting one computer and a ton of optical cables, to split it between 3 locations was really that convenient of an idea. Evidently it's a ton more hassle than it's intended to be

As the hardware guy in my I.T department I felt every painful moment of this video. Great job crew and Linus, I hope it gets completely figured out soon!

Thank you Linus for another episode of WendellTechTips. Jokes aside, I'm really thankful for these longer, VLOG-type videos, because they don't sugarcoat the frustrating aspects of tech.
