Yay! I have been organizing like crazy to get ready for construction on our home and have more to do. I just redid the master closet...kicked myself out of it and created a travel/camping zone and moved my husband’s stuff to what was my side and he now has a proper dressing room. He was unenthusiastic about me doing it now at first, but says he feels spoiled and loved and really likes it. It also got us some permanent solutions for things that never had a real home or had been displaced for construction. I’m living out of a micro wardrobe in the armoire and have the rest of my stuff piled in our bathtub until my new (glorious) closet is built. I’m trying to finish other areas in the meantime so I can have a clean slate and mind to massively purge my stuff. I have so much through years of back and forth pregnancy and sisters and mom who give me all the clothes they outgrew.

My kitchen is pretty well organized already, but I love the idea of a morning zone. We have a coffee zone already but it’s not as exclusive as yours and lunch packing stuff is elsewhere and not set up in a user friendly way since our family has outgrown the original space allotted. It would mean moving serving pieces somewhere else though. That may have to happen later on in construction.

LOVE THIS!!!! Love the reminder of zones -- I have many of my rooms in my home broken into zones, especially my kitchen (beverage & bar zone, serving zone, baking zone, lunch and breakfast prep zone, etc)! I also really love the reminder to take time and make organizing simple / doable / manageable! One of my larger home goals for 2019 is to reorganize our whole home but since this is a HUGE / daunting task, I am tacking one area per month (some things can be done in a day but my living room has taken me all month by doing a bit at a time and I'm loving the process). Thanks for another wonderful video!

I've spent the last three years turning my kitchen into a workspace as I've developed a food line, testing recipes and just trying to become a better baker overall. As someone who regularly shops for kitchen supplies, I can tell you wholeheartedly that less is more. The best kitchens have next to nothing on their counters. I encountered that concept recently when Marie Kondo was saying that she visited restaurant kitchens and they had nothing on the counter. So, I gave it a try last month and now I only have my Oxo electric kettle, SimpleHuman towel holder, Kitchenaid mixer, Vitamix, and a large ceramic bowl of avocados. I turned my pantry into a dry goods storage for ingredients as there isn't a whole lot that I buy to store like cans, bags, or boxes.

I'm not a Minimalist, but have followed a few blogs/podcasts over the years and I do love the concept of having only what you need. The problem with most home cooks is that they have things they rarely or never use so it just site in the back of your cupboards, then you think you need to rush off to the Container Store for storage. Lol Recalling the sentiment in your planners, Tonya, of everything having a home. Love that!

A morning zone sounds like a good idea. I often make smoothies for breakfast, and I walk round and round in the kitchen gathering the supplies and ingredients. Plus, having lunch supplies in one area would be helpful as well. Thanks, Tonya!

I want to add a 'command' zone. A place for a calendar, keys to hang, a white board for jotting quick notes, something to drop mail in so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle...
