What are your thoughts on a hidden drawers under this small area under the stairs landing? This would be a great spot for a place to store rifles in a drawer.

You can never have too many hidden drawers. If I had the money my house would be filled with secret pathways.

Never have a 90° turn on stairs .
Always make stairs go straight up/down.
Very difficult to move furniture to the second floor.

I am from New York and as a New Yorker, you Use all possible spaces for something. So yes. (Also, That is a one bedroom apartment at $2500 a month in Williamsburg Brooklyn under those stairs.)

make it look like an attractive return air vent. It is held tight by an electromagnetic switch...kinda like the door at the Walmart auto section. Have a innocent looking wall switch close by. Flip the switch and the drawer gently comes open because it's spring loaded...

If I put a firearm compartment/drawer directly below my staircase, it
would be so I can have fast and easy access to my firearm when I run
down the stairs.

Based on the framing, it looks like in order to access that firearm, you would have to run down the stairs, and then run around a room to go around the staircase until you finally get to access your tools. That would be an easy no for me.

Done something like this under my stairs for shoes. Works really well as its about 900mm deep

Also a good place to store wrapping paper since the tubes are super long.

Yeah. Cut the studs. Reframe a box. Use king studs to make sure the drawers have strong enough supports for the weight. Also make it super hidden and inaccessible to everyone unless they have the magnet to open the thing.

Believe it or not, people keep all kinds of things in drawers. Linens, snacks, video game controllers... Maybe ask an interior designer instead of a doomer/prepper for tips on this one.
