I've found a cotton synthetic blend works best. The problem with a lot of synthetic materials is they don't absorb and my feet feel sticky. With cotton it does a great job of absorbing the oils and salts so my feet feel clean and dry. Like you said all cotton tend to keep the moisture is so you want mostly synthetic to wick the moisture to the surface so it can evaporate quicker.

That is what I thought after years of hearing "cotton wicks away moisture". (It doesn't, but it took me years to figure this out.) I have an athlete's foot problem, and acrylic socks (and wool socks, and even nylon socks are better).

Cotton with nothing added but a little spandex has always get the most comfortable. ANY polyester and my feet slide around in my socks, get itchy and eventually smelly.

Iv'e found out that whenever I wore any synthetic material socks I would always have especially smelly feet however, I wear at least 70% cotton socks and I don't have that issue unless I wear those socks longer than a day.

Wool It will work for clothes only because there have airflow, sweat it will go out evaporate. But for foot, Thick Cotton socks is best for sweaty foot because foot is covered wth shoes and nowhere to evaporate the sweat, cotton  will just collect all the sweat makes your foot dry and not smelly. If you use wool socks on your foot, all your sweat it will just distribute all over inside the shoes and come back to your feet. Wet shoes starts smelly feet and day by day become more smelly.

Something I just cannot get my head around; why would anyone want moisture wicking socks? Why do I want that moisture trapped up against my feet, unable to get through water repellent material? Every time I wear them its like I've been working in a swamp all day. And since it's the current trend, I have a very hard time finding any socks that aren't moisture lockers.

Moisture wicking socks have been the absolute worst when it comes to this. I mean by far, 100% horrible. I have proof and the first 6seconds of this video, i knew this was not going to help. Might be a possibility if i didnt have to wear shoes but ive tried them and its a good way for me to throw shoes away.
