New solo piano performance! I'm quite excited to share this one.

This is quite the emotional piece for anyone who has played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and one that I've been working on for months now.

I started working on this one in January (I think), not long after I shared my "Where We Used to Be" performance, and been slowly learning/practicing it while also making progress through my regular classical piano books. I took a break from it at some point too which is why it took so long, but I eventually picked it back up and finished it!

I'm extremely proud of my piano progress as a self-taught pianist. I have now been playing piano for three and a half years and I'm so happy to be able to choose a piece of music and learn it. "Desolation" surely was above my level but I found that, with enough practice, taking it slowly one part at a time, I was able to eventually play it.

The way I've been approaching learning piano is... I like working on two pieces at once. One from the course books I follow which will usually take me a week or two to learn and play, and a second piece that's above my level of comfort that'll take me a few months to master. That way, I always feel like I'm making progress advancing through the books while also pushing myself playing harder pieces. It's been working super well for me.

I just love how both this song and Walking With You use some of the same notes and patterns! For the longest time, I always though Desolation was a piano version of the later, but they both are unique! This was a beautiful cover!
