I like another theory that she’s actually traversing within the stars now, and because she no longer has a corporeal body so communicating with those on earth appears to be hard

Sellen gets the best ending if you never tell her about Lusat. She stays in charge of the academy and she won't become Ball.

She still may, eventually, as her curiosity will inevitably lead to her seeking out more about the Primeval Current, but for the moment you can let her have her happiness.

I only kill Jeren in my first playthrough. After that I always kill Selen because of this
