India was made in the image of a woman. And not just any woman. A goddess who embodies India’s culture & traditions - Bharat Mata. Why then are women second class citizens in today's India?

In the third of episode of Past Continuous, we explore how the history of how the "modern Indian woman" was created.

This is great work, but please consider making longer videos so that you can explore these ideas in more detail.

I have two points on this video one genral and another specific.

1. General - There have been very few YouTube channels(in this age, our main source of knowledge) that criticize the upper caste so scathingly. Therefore, the video was not easy on the ears. The only remedy is that you analyse more topics and make videos with this Marxist caste struggle lens so that one can get used to it and it doesn't sound very odd. I have already subscribed.

2. The specific point is regarding the time when you displayed the picture of Vivekananda. This material-spiritual was fueled not just by domestic forces but also international forces. This is explained by Romila Thapar in her book Early India in the first chapter. She mentions intellectuals of Romantic movement in the West that fueled this divide such as Schlegel, Herder, Wordsworth and Coleridge.

This is so relatable. All my life I’ve seen my mom work way way more than my dad. I don’t consider myself a feminist or anything but I could definitely see. Like my parents worked the same hours but my mom was the only one who was responsible to cook 3 times a way somehow and do other chores. Ofcourse we helped!

Bit of mention of Jyotiba Phule and Savitri bai Phule, was very much required to show the actual movement.

Amazing work. Clear and impactful. Good representation of 'the nationalist resolution of the women's question' by partha Chatterjee. And explained in a simple and effective way. Would love to see more videos that go into detail around this topic and the essay

Not only women but 85% of Indian population is not free. So basically India is not free at all. Only Brahmins and other few uppercastes who amount to just 15% of Indian population are free.

I think nehru understood politics and people..probably something ambedkar didn't.. That what you want is gargantuan. If you come at people with all that, they will be defensive and dismissive. Dial it back and and take baby steps and things will change in time.
Ambedkar had a my way or the high way approach and thats really not 'politics'. Sadly what we needed was women rights and agenda to be pushed further in increments every 30-40 years which I'm assuming didn't happen.

I don't consider myself as so called nationalists but I think your videos are targeting them. You are showing like only upper castes were flawed but in reality upper and lower castes are both flawed.

You are doing great job
Story of Indian women is incomplete without mention of great Savitribai phule.
You should have mentioned her 👍
But our upper caste mindset refuses to acknowledge her sacrifices for entire society, women in particular.
She even died while serving the society 🙏
Kindly make one episode regarding her immense contribution 🙏

I doubt if the 'creator' of this video really knows the truth about Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar! He didn't want to fit in the British high society. This is so wrong!
