Kitchen Remodel: Part 10 - Sink

I built the cabinet for the sink wider than necessary thinking I would need some adjustability in the placement of the sink. This ended up making a lot more work than it had to be. I started by following the instructions that came with the sink and built two supports for the sink. Then I heavily modified these supports to make them work with my cabinet. In the end, it all worked out. The sink sits flat and level, the countertop fits with the sink, and the plumbing works.

You answered a question we had. We were given an undermount farmhouse sink for our new island cabinets, but it had no instructions. The lip of the sink sat on top of the sink cabinet and I didn't think that was right because the quartz countertop that's going to go over it would probably crack. You verified my suspicion when you said the sink lip has to sit flush with or below the top edge of the cabinet. Thank you.

Love your work Frank. The kitchen is looking great. The shop that you have created seems to be a battery of exploration and fuel for the the creative. The best advise I ever heard was keep it simple stupid. The hardest lesson I ever learned was keep it simple stupid. I'm reminded of that lesson almost every day... At the end of the day, I probably would have made a new sink base cabinet.

Genuine... That's the word that comes to mind when I watched this one.
I've been involved with a couple of kitchen cabinet installs, and know the nightmares one can run into, fitting square cabinetry to older houses and their less than ideal corners, etc etc.
This set of videos should be mandatory viewing before any diy project in the kitchen! :-)
That slot beside the sink? I my humble opinion, that would have made an awesome, full-height, slide-out rack for baking sheets, muffin tins, cutting boards... Had one made for my wife - custom - and she loves that feature about the most out of her whole kitchen.

When I saw the extra space, I immediately thought of sheet pan storage. they are the one piece of kitchen equipment that do not fit in anywhere normal.  Still all in all this looks like a beautiful kitchen install. - Annie
