Lil Nas X is no doubt a talented artist but the latest work we're is living up to his potential. In this video I wanna discuss what is hindering Lil Nas X and his music and why some of the general public do not take him serious as an artist.

I do wonder what his team looks like. It just seems like they don’t know what to do with him anymore.

What I got from the documentary is he is STILL VERY young. He can't give us something extremely black and gay, because HE doesn't know what that is just yet. HE'S still learning. HIS FAMILY is still learning and adjusting. It's surface level because he still has a lot learning and developing to do.

In previous video someone commented, “Lil Nas X kinda snuck up on the industry and no one initially knew he was gay” and I think that’s very important when looking to him to be an advocate. He’s really only been ‘out’ what three years? He hasn’t hit his metamorphosis point, he’s still a baby and I think that’s why you aren’t seeing that, he’s just not there yet.

What you want Lil Nas X to be is NOT what he was curated to be. All the "celebrities" we've seen emerge in the past 10 years or so are blatantly here to push an agenda. They are props for the masses and not champions for blackness. The sooner we stop looking for representation in these entertainers, the sooner we'll stop being disappointed when they aren't what we expect. He will do what he is contractually obligated to do. If you question, "Who dis fa?" It is not you. He is not what you wish for in a black queer artist, and he is not going to be as long as he's in the industry.

Never even knew he had a documentary. 🤦🏽‍♀️

i don’t think lil nas x wants / can handle the position he holds as a famous celebrity artist. i think social media convinces ppl they want fame more than they want to be actual artists who hone their craft. i think we’re seeing that fame and perfection and trying to stay relevant is getting in the way of him actually becoming a better artist and being proud of the work he’s making. he got famous too early in his career

I also wonder if it has to do with the same fear that Cardi B has. Like Cardi, his debut album was so good. Montero was so excellent, barely any skips

And for a lot of artists, it's intimidating to put out new music after the last one broke so many records

Honestly from what you describe, it probably would have been better suited to his audience for them to do a series of high quality Vlogs and hour a piece on “a day in the life I’m on tour”.

You are definitely right about Lil Nas X. Because if he doesn’t showcase who is as a person. Then someone else is going to take his place and do it better

I'm going to show him some Grace and I hope he has some people around him that's uplifting him to just tell his truth. To tap into himself. Because I'm a stan and I'm waiting

I’m reading these comments…and…. I’m wondering what do some of you TRULY mean by “he’s doing too much.” Because honestly, Doja Cat be doing too much at times, but I don’t see people saying this as much as they do Lil Nas X. Why is that?? Anyway…Thank you Justin for mentioning his documentary. I haven’t seen it because it just didn’t seem interesting enough for me. As a black lesbian, I want so much more for Lil Nas X. I want him to progress. I often wonder what his team looks like. It just seems like his team doesn’t know what to do with him. Hopefully, he can get an entire new team and find some balance. He’s very talented, I just think he needs a new team. Like you said, I’m ready to see him grow as an artist as well.

I understand this POV. However, I'm a silly man head to toe. I've been like this my whole like thus far. But just because you stopped playing and moved on to different forms of enjoyment, that doesn't mean being silly is "less than." Lil NAS X is the same age as me. I'm an army veteran, married, and silly as shit. I know that might sound pointed, but that's not my intention. Grown doesn't mean one can't be silly. If that's line between "good" and "bad, " it's a stupid line. I, too, want him to grow, J christ felt like, "Please, I'm on a break, " which was made and had a delayed release. Star walkin was definitely a "my manager made me do this." I'm fine with the documentary not being about his family interactions. Not everything is meant to be in the spotlight. That's very much new Territory him and his family need to sort out without our involvement.

Not only "the industry", but *Black* consumers also *reject queer* artists: i.e. Rahsaan Patterson, Rachelle Farrell, Meshelle N'degeocello, etc. *Hetero* Black folk don't give love to the above. 🖤 🎶 🖤

I gotta imagine for lil nas x, it must be hard to be a representation b/c he still seems like he’s finding himself . He came out like what … 2 years ago. I can’t imagine having to find yourself in the public eye while still trying to recreate the success of his first album. Can’t imagine how much pressure he’s in
