Both are rock solid gaming CPUs that will be relevant long into the future of your pc’s lifespan. Don’t get hung up on amd vs Intel. Buy which ever 8 core 16 thread current gen cpu that is the cheapest honestly.

My girls PC was a 6700k and I upgraded it to a 3060TI from a 970. I was OC'ing the CPU to 4.6 GHZ but it just couldn't keep up with her trying to stream. DLSS made things even worse when set to on. I ended up upgrading her to the 5800x because the 3060 came from a shuffle bundle and had the b550 tomahawk board sitting around. Got the 5800x at Microcenter for 299. Now with DLSS on, Her PC beats my 9900k/gtx1080 set up for almost everything. DLSS is actually a great feature I'm learning. Just make sure you have enough cores to use it properly!

If you go 5800x. I recommend undervolting it a bit to help temps lower, the general construction of the chip is too small of a path for proper heat conduction from the die to the cover. So no amount of cooling will matter. It starts out using volts that are for 145TDP when the chip can run at 125TDP (my guess is for stability).

Remember when watching these benchmarks to really pay attention to the 1% low as well. Its a good indicator to witch is running the game smoother. I went 11700k because the motherboard and cpu where I wanted was about $40 cheaper on team blue. No bias just what ever met my goals for the best price.

When I see that Cyberpunk sequence starting with 180 W power consumption on the Intel side...I instantly stating to cry...
My good old 8700K uses 60 W of power while gaming, which is a few percent less...
So, well done Intel ! That is a remarkable progress in the last 5 years !

It seems the 11700k isn't THAT bad.
Its biggest flaw is power consumption.

this i7 11700k is a great option if you want a gaming PC (and its cheaper than a 5800x)

So the Intel CPU seemed to be 5 - 7 frames better, but need for this round about 42 - 50 W more power !

Gotta consider that the Ryzen 5800X wasn't really used far above half. That being said, if you want to run more tasks at once (not specifically games) then Ryzen 5800X is the way to go.
