Water towers in the café. A fire hydrant in the hallway. Google's New York City office has gone on a hiring binge, and has tricked out its offices so that new employees know they're working in New York. WSJ's Andy Jordan takes an exclusive look inside Google's Chelsea office in Manhattan.

Absolutely abysmal ergonomics. Everyone hunched over. No amount of "casual collision" and other open space concepts negates the need for a healthy personal computer work station, especially for a company whose employees, let's face it, work on a computer most of the day. No wonder they have a paid doctor on staff. Those poor employees are going to need it.

This is like college extended. It's like losing your 20s and 30s in this kind of environment, and before you know it you're 40 and "What the hell just happened?"

I think all the New York stuff is tacky. Many employees will be from New York so it just feels like someone is putting a bib on you and making you go on a field trip to your own house.

The news crew was filming at the fair once when I was 15 and I said. Hi Mom to the camera. Even though she was standing right next to me.

She said I'm right here. I said. I know I just wanted to say hi to you on the camera so you'll hear me say hi to you when you watch the news. And it did appear on the news. lol

Well, sure. There is indeed a lot of fancy stuff (which you do not have time for, if you're working there), but in the principle it is just a fancy open space office.

Did you also notice that there is nobody in the small fancy rooms (I also cannot imagine working there on a sofa without a proper table), and everybody sitting there in the big crowded open space area? ;)

how nice this office is just fine with your work because of this great office facilities
