The Fender American Vintage II collection is adding a brand-new 1965 Stratocaster to the permanent line, as well as a 1951 Telecaster in Prototype White, a 1957 Strat in black and a 1960 Precision Bass in Olympic White.

Tales from the Fender booth: “American Vintage II highlights specific years of models from Fender’s past. It’s a really fun line, and these are amazing instruments. For example, the ’65 Strat focuses on a transition era for the Stratocaster after CBS bought the company. It has a ‘Goldilocks’ neck, because it’s not too thick or too thin—it’s a nice C shape," says Fender's Allen Abbassi, Director of Product Management.

I want one in surf green or sea foam green. The 60’s models with bigger frets and neck truss rod adjust would be epic. The 60s feel great.

I wish they had the flash coat lacquer, those were some of the best instruments Fender put out

The Fender American Vintage Series was always visibly the best. After the locking tuner perverted new Standards this felt great!

You don't REALLY believe that mushy distortion sounds good, right? But that Stratocaster looks fabulous.

That top volume knob is totally in the way of the picking hand, as is the control switch AND the middle pup while picking . Therefore I have the proverbial love / hate with Strats

A brand new model that looks like every other strat….a Malibu Stacey with a new hat

Bizarre how they never do American vintage series 68-70 strats to capitalise on the whole Hendrix/David Gilmour thing, you can only get close with Japanese models, Custom Shop or tribute models with upside down necks and they're always olympic white

God...why are they doing this to me. I missed the 65 first time around. Now I feel more desperate. Why do I like big white dots and transition logos so much?
