I did not pay any attention to this movie when it came out but just 4 months ago I saw a clip of it and I was instantly captured. I have watched the whole movie maybe 5 times since. Really well written and acted, a fascinating look into the crisis.

A stretch to say the company was Lehman Bros or John Tuld based on any individual. I'm sure the entire script was a confluence of multiple characters and corporations. Still an awesome movie with an awesome cast.

Really couldn’t have been Lehman. This movie suggests whoever was first out the door (the firm depicted) actually saved their a$$e$ at the expense of everyone else. That certainly was not the case with Lehman.

How about the fact that the investment bank in the film were the first one to realize that those assets where going to deteriorate before other banks? It seems a bit backwards considering Lehman was one of the last people who were aware of the situation, especially the CEO. Perhaps another bank that maybe began to sell their MBS assets before 2008? I heard J.P. Morgan got out way before the mess began

I had heard that the screenplay was written before the 2008 crisis, or was not even a reference to 2008. Is this true? My interpretation saw the movie on an abstract level and I didn’t even think of 2008. The film wasn’t specific. I did read the book “Fools Gold” carefully, so I’m aware of the 2008 details.
