I feel like the reason Kai is unknown to the general public is because of his dark turn, and his image was almost forced out of the minds of everyone to be forgotten.

Kai had so much potential to be the greatest villain, they should’ve leaned more into his backstory and how the friendship came to be and how it all went down and they were now enemies, I wanted to see so much more of their adventures and journeys together, but unfortunately it just couldn’t happen.

In my view, Tai Lung was the most sympathetic villain, Lord Shen was the most twisted and well-written villain, and Kai was the most powerful villain with arguably the best soundtrack. I haven't seen Kung Fu Panda 4, so I can't comment on the Chameleon. It really amazes how Dreamworks really did a wonderful job with the majority of the villains in these movies to be both complex, intimidating and even relatable

(Honestly the best animated villain and had a sad backstory and gave Po PTSD for life)
🥈 Second Place Tai Lung
(He has a great backstory with Master Shifu and he has a huge character development.)
🥉3rd place Kai
(JK Simmons did a great job as Kai and has an awesome theme song)
4th place The Chameleon (A pretty good villain but she didn't bring up hype from the first 3 movies)

The reason Kai was not remembered was because Oogway wiped every trace of him in the mortal world which is why he wanted to destroy the jade palace.

I personally think Lord Shen is on top because Lord Shen is a personal threat. Tai Lung had nothing against Po except that he was Dragon Warrior. Lord Shen went and killed and as far as he knew caused the Panda's extinction specifically to stop Po from existing. Just my opinion though.

My favorite is kai because everytime he beat someone in a fight, he grew stronger and more powerful

For me it’s defenetly my man Shen. Great design, tragic backstory, awesome villain charisma and personality, the voice actor, his stunning fighting style and the fact he is the most terrifying KFP villain and is a peacock?! Also he just commited genocide based on a fortune tale, that’s evil.

Kai was always my favorite villain in the trilogy. But Tai Kung is the one I respect the most. More I watch the fist movie, more I respect for him
