As a former server, if the head cook comes out to speak with a customer... It's the final word. It doesn't matter what a manager, GM or owner can say. They're done.

Refusing to serve someone is such a liberating feeling. Worked in a cafe and had to do this once or twice with people who are NEVER satisfied. Had a man walk me through everything STEP-BY-STEP with an insane and redundant routine. And even after doing every small thing at his approval, he’d take a sip and be like “you did it wrong! You guys can NEVER do it right!”
After dealing with this guy for weeks, it felt so good to be like, “Sorry, but this point I don’t think we’ll ever be able to make this at your standard. Here’s your money back. We will not try to make this for you again, so please try someplace else.”
Oh he was MAD. It was GREAT.

If they’re scamming you, they’re not a customer. They’re stealing from you.

Refusing service to chronic complainers is so satisfying. It sets a good boundary.

As a cook, the two cooks eating the wings in the window is the pinnacle of accuracy for kitchen staff lmaoo

We had a couple who did that when I worked at a Chinese restaurant. The husband would always demand food remakes, claim they didn’t like something (even after they ate everything on their plate), and demand money or store credit. They banned him. He even got a new number to order food—banned again. WHY KEEP COMING BACK IF YOU HATE OUR FOOD??

I love how Nico and Pickles are enjoying the wings and the drama.

The kitchen staff DESTROYING the wings while enjoying the show ... the manager pretending to try to help when it's already sorted out ... everything is SO ON POINT jhjahahaha, and the best part is that you forget that all these unique and distinct characters are played by the same TALENTED AF guy !!!, you're great Drew!!!

More people need to get this response. Not just in the food industry. Everywhere.

The manager actually not doing anything but watching from a distance is the epitome of 99.8% of managers I’ve had.

I was 16 and working at Golden Corral. Our buffet prices went up one January and 4 months later a customer complained to me about it. I told her the prices weren’t set by me and I apologize if she thinks they are a bit high. She started yelling at me about how she knows we’re ripping people off and she’s gonna tell everyone to never come here again. So I responded with “I honestly doubt that since you eat here 3 times a week and if it was that bad you can go somewhere else” Yea that was not the answer she wanted because it was a hour of her screaming at my manager and my manager telling me that I’m not allowed to say that no matter how much it’s true. She was so smug when she came back through with her free meal tickets the next few weeks.

This needs to be enforced more often. I find it weird that the ones that cause the problem always get stuff for free. It rewards terrible customers.

I had to do this at a job once. Woman ordered the same sandwich every week and every week “we got it wrong.” Manager always had it remade even though she ate the first one. She called in I wrote down EVERYTHING, read it back and told her I recorded it to make sure we didn’t mess it up this time. She seemed hesitant at that point, but let us go ahead and make it. I stood over the person making it, literally checking off the list as it was made. She got her food, ate it and left knowing she couldn’t complain about it. She literally waited till the manager who always just remade it was in to come in and complain, not that her sandwich was wrong, but that I was unbelievably rude to her. He remade her sandwich for free and came in the back to yell at me, which he often did, wouldn’t listen. I said ok fine, next time she called in I said hey we clearly never make you happy, so at this point I’m going to just delete your account here and you can try subway. Deleted the account and added her phone number to the do not serve list. Didn’t clear it with anyone, but the owner sided with me because I had a literal recording of the interaction.

Nothing felt better in my life than when I got promoted to management and started refusing to let servers get pushed around by customers.
I got fired from that job. Totally worth it.

I had a GM who did this one day to a customer who came in 2-3 times a week and complained about everything from dirty ice (it wasn't) to overcooked/undercooked food to whatever he could find. After about 2 months of this the GM walked up and had nearly the same speech, even they "Your Anybody" line. It was classic.

Yo, full honesty, if I ever had a problem when I was serving tables I would go to the chef, not the manager. The manager is always about "the customer is always right" and would comp ANYTHING to keep a "repeat customer". Chef was having none of that shit. If someone was legit nasty to the wait staff or was a serial abuser like this, that dude would just walk up, thank them for stopping by, inform them they were no longer welcome and they had two minutes to be out the door. Loved that guy.

The manager refusing to serve you is one thing, THE HEAD COOK telling youre not welcomed anymore is a whole other thing lol
