Lol my partner speaks in a posh English accent, because of Executive job, but when we are arguing he speak in a very funny dogy English accent 🤣. I thought the posh accent was his natural accent but he told me his father sent him to elocution lessons. When we drink vodka I always say to him can you speak in that funny English accent again he hates it, 🙈🤣🤣

Very interesting. I am always amazed at the variety of “English” accents in a relatively small land mass of Great Britain.

Kenneth Branagh (the master of accents) did an interview, slipping effortlessly into his native Northern Ireland accent and talked about how, when his parents moved to England when he was about ten years old, he had to learn Received Pronunciation so as not to be bullied.

Working class but went to Eton? Now that is cool! I’m English, talk RP though not as nicely as you. I don’t come from a wealthy background, but always got teased by my colleagues when I talk about having “supper” instead of “tea”. I kept telling them that tea was something you had at three o’clock with Victoria sponge cake!

Very interesting and very good tips! Even the word 'posh' is a word that one should avoid when speaking in U English. One should say 'upmarket' or 'smart' instead.
