Nazani - Armenian Song

Duduk by @AliFarbodnia, vocals and arrangement by Farya Faraji. This is a song by the renowned Sayat Nova, one of the great musicians of Armenian culture. The style of Sayat Nova represents a courtly form of Maqam music that is very representative of the East Armenian styles of music, characterised more by triple metres, similarities to Iranian and Azerbaijani music, and prominent usage of instruments like the tar, used here. Also used is the duduk, the national instrument of Armenians originating in the Armenian Highlands and the Caucasus.

With the triangle, kamancha and tambourine, graceful one.

Sayat-Nova said, I will petition the Khan.

as soon as you started singing, i immediately began crying. although i am an atheist, i have a strong belief that you were made by god himself. your voice, your brain, your appearance, your music - you're ancient in the best sense of these words. not a single artist, even those who make religious-ish music, have never ignited such a thought inside my head. that they are a god's gift. there is something about you, something truly divine, farya, that i cant explain exactly, cant point a finger at. i love spending time to learn the lyrics of the songs you sing, and then sing along, quietly, just enough to be able still hear your voice. your armenian is amazing. i hear this language from the day that i was born, but i cant speak it, have never learnt. but when i whisper the lyrics, knowing that the accent is on spot, i feel right. thank you, farya, your contribution to the world is incomparable. sending uncountable amount of respect and love from Ukraine.
