Hearing all these stories about being a broke minor leaguer makes me kind of sad. The Columbus Clippers hang out at a bar/restaurant around the corner from my house. Next time I see them I'm going to buy them a round of beers. Need to do more to show those guys that we appreciate them.

You want clicks and interaction? Make a video called "I hate mac and cheese"

You could use a toddler as a tee and have less controversy than that statement.

I’m glad I found this channel. I followed Matt’s career from Northern California because we share the same last name. I still remember his 08 Sept call up when the padres played the giants. Hearing Duane Kuiper say “Antonelli” was so surreal!

Matt, I found your videos completely by accident one day and have watched you on and off for the past year. Here lately you’ve been too damn interesting I finally just had to subscribe to you lol. But seriously keep up the videos, I appreciate hearing your stories

Hi Matt, I caught Rick Sutcliffe in High School. KCMO Van Horn High School 1975-76. One game. I was the 1st baseman and back-up catcher. Rick went on to become NL Rookie of the Year and Cy Young 1984. Before your time. He was like 6'7" in HS! Our catcher wrenched his knee. Could not squat. I was a good HS player nothing else. Back-up catcher. No signs I did not know any. Rock and fire. One subject you have never addressed. The sound of a fastball near your ear. It hisses and buzzes. Like an angry hornet. It really does! CHIEFS!

I pitched from little league to highschool and at age 13 I played travel baseball for coaches that played college or pro. So I live in Georgia and nothing against recreational baseball but it's nothing compared to travel baseball because your playing against teams that are better than you are. So it pushes you to be better but I remember we would have a practice game at our home park but then we would have to be in Columbus Georgia for a tournament. But then when school was out for the summer we had a coach that was from Ohio but at one time that was in the Cincinnati Reds organization. So we would travel to places like Illinois, Indiana, , Florida and other places and so I never made it to the college or pro level but travel baseball gives you the feel of what it's like in going from town to town

How do MLB players avoid getting seen when they go out in public? You never really see stories on where players go to eat or shop or what they do in their free time? Basically how do MLB players lay low and avoid attention when they go out in public?

If this was “SHOWTIME LAKERS” in the 80’s, this would have to be plastered with Rated NC17. LOL

While in Marine Corps boot camp we got to go to a Padres game during Marine week. Then after we graduated I walked downtown San Diego. Cool town!

That's pretty cool that you mentioned Sean Kazmar. I met him at an adult baseball camp in Arizona a few years ago. He probably doesn't remember me but he's a good guy.
I've seen him play in Charlotte a few times. I also met Will Venable this past November in Florida. Another good guy.

Do any of the coaches ever hang out with the players? I imagine older coaches probably just want to go home, but younger coaches can be pretty close in age to MLB players. Maybe even played with some of them before they retired.

How do living arrangements work during spring training? Do you stay at a hotel? Is it any different for major leaguers vs minor leaguers? Is it necessary to rent a car so you're able to do stuff on your days/nights off?

you mentioned about how many of the teammates you had in the minors you had the opportunity to play in the MLB with. Would be awesome to hear you speak more to that experience.

Sunday afternoon home games in the majors during a homestand with a 3 game series starting either the next day or that tuesday must be really nice. Teams usually play at 1pm on sundays.

Love these videos and the channel, bro! I think people (especially those who played competitively) wonders what it would have been like had they played in the bigs and you’re doing a fantastic job providing some insight. Great idea and thanks for sharing all your knowledge! You have my support for sure 👍🏻💯
