Playing video games is more common than ever. Overall, I think video games have a positive impact in my life. This paper I've found described 4 areas in which research supports the benefits of video games. It Improved specific cognitive processes, allows for sublimation, involves good socialisation, and helps people handle failure better

I was in an abusive relationship where I wound up not able to leave the house, use the phone or have any contact with people. That was over 30 years ago. I still hardly leave the house or use the phone and have no friends. My human contact are only with my 3 children. I’ve had therapy and different kinds of treatment with no help. I’d love to get therapy but obviously have difficulty calling to make it happen. So sad how my life’s turned out and not sure how to change it. Sounds silly like just do it, but I can’t.

I'm also from England! I suffer from pretty severe anxiety and it's been interesting to learn more about myself through watching your videos! I have found video games to be a great distraction from my worries so it's extra reassuring that this video exists haha!

Great video! There is so much to learn about what they can do for someone and their mind, so so many questions... but for now I'll just leave a like!👍🏻

Great video. I wish you had talked about the time spending on video games, and the impact of video games at young age. By the way, I'm from Brazil.

Some games like March of Empires (pay to play) are a magnet to narcissists. They can pay and win, control others but it also deepens their feeling that everyone are to get them, everyone is bad, etc. Therefore these games are not good to anyone.

Moreover, it's better to be engaged in sports that are 3D, meaning, in reality XD

The brain would be more active and makes better connections. Like the idea of playing 2D chess (online) V.S. chess on a board.

Some might be very very good at 2D chess, bet when they transition to 3D chess they might struggle at first...

So now I can feel less guilty about the ungodly number of hours my teenaged sons play on their gaming devices? 😂Lol. To be serious though, I worry that video games can be harmful in that they can be a distraction from processing or dealing with difficult emotions. What do you think of this? …BTW, from the US and I find your mental health videos really interesting. 👍🏻
