Yes it is made in china, but with a msrp of $2999 its hard to ignore when a Snap On version msrp is about 8K.

So you use the terminology of "beginner tool box, which kind of makes it sound like a professional mechanic shouldn't look at this. As a master mechanic, and owning one of the Snap-On master series tool boxes, I'd say that this is just as good of quality.

I've been a ASE certified master tech for 28 years now and I just sold my snap-on master series box that I've had for 14 years and I bought the icon 73 inch box and I like it better than my snap-on master series box. To me it's built just as good as any of the tool truck ones.

The ICON is a legit toolbox. Fit and finish is on point. Thick steel, nice trim, nice paint, quality everywhere. And the true hallmark of quality? They went full boar even in the parts you don’t see. Pull a drawer out and look inside. Fully painted interior, full supports everywhere, thick steel in even the hidden areas. Locking mechanisms are strong. Look underneath and you find full paint and massive unchannel frame running the length of the box with beefy castors attached. The side cabinets are literally heavier duty than some gun safes. Even the bits you are supposed to discard like the end cabinet shipping wheels and the hutch template for drilling holes are fully finished and painted pieces made of thick steel. This thing is SOLID.

I've had mine for a year, very happy. Delivery was professional and hassle free and it came over a week early. I'm a full time tech, this is a professional level/quality box and I have no hesitation spending money to expand it with lockers and more drawers. My only complaint is the depth. I don't know how much more expensive it would have to be for it to be a full 30" deep. I'd gladly pay another grand for a deeper box, that said, I'm definitely not disappointed about spending what I did for the box I got.

I wish this was around when I bought my craftsman almost 30 yrs., I didn't even bother thinking about buying a snap on then, I just bought the their tools and they were right at home in the craftsman box. I eventually bought a much bigger Craftsman box and filled it with more tools from all brands. Wish I could've got this ICON, it's perfect even for beginner and even a journeyman or so owner

Received my 56" ICON in May and couldn't be happier. Yes ... built like a tank.

Nice review. Very thorough and great detail on some of the items like drawer removal I have not seen in other videos.

I ordered my 73 inch today in green. I bought the hutch and locker too. I saved $1300 by taking advantage of president's day sale, my inside track and signing up for their credit card. My wife signed up for the inside track so I could get the discount on the hutch because they only allow the discount on one item. I guess I'll find a deserving friend or two to take my craftsman boxes that I've had for years. The only thing I'll miss is my collection of stickers on my old boxes. No stickers are going on the Icon. Perhaps a few magnetic ones will find their way attached to my new heirloom.

Nice review. It's good to see the pricing on these has gone down. I went with a used Mac and am more than happy but I would have given Icon some serious thought for less than 3 grand. Also you're definitely right about the channels under the drawers. I have an old husky that won't lock some of the drawers with more than maybe 50 pounds in them

I'm looking to upgrade my Kobalt box. This Icon sure is tempting. It's bigger than i need but hey, it's like buying a gun safe. Figure out how much room you need and then go bigger! Thanks for a great review.

What are those large cabinets behind you in the video? In addition to the toolbox solution I'm putting together, I also need a storage solution. Perhaps something that would match the ICON toolbox and accessories.

I just noticed prices for all accessories have lowered significantly. Good time to pick up a hutch or locker.

Your work at this channel is priceless! Really enjoying watch your reviews. Everything is very condensed, data heavy and on the point. Before buying this Icon rolling cabinet you had/reviewed New Age Pro, so you have a pretty good use of both. Given your hands-on experience, what would be your thought process between choosing one over another one if you have to start over today?

Great review, thanks for posting. I ordered one a couple of days ago - I'm figuring a couple of months to go. lol

I wonder how easy it rusts tho. Not taking a shot I just know the 54? Inch classic series snapon box the shop I work at provides is maybe a year or 2 old and is starting to rust.
Ya I get it wash your box and I would’ve prevented that rust better myself but I’m the second person to have the box.

Are you aware of any wood top options compatible with this ICON 73" cabinet (maybe that can be installed in lew of the stainless steel top?)
