What inheritance the Queen Mother left to her great-grandchildren, and why Harry got nothing. Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon died in 2002, at the age of 101, leaving an impressive fortune to her great-grandchildren. According to Forbes, Elizabeth's inheritance to her great-grandchildren totalled almost $100 million. And she started saving this amount back in 1944. "The late Queen Mother used to call Prince William to tea and talk to him about the future, whereas Prince Harry was not invited to these tea parties," notes royal biographer Angela Levin. "The Queen Mother always made sure Prince William sat prominently next to her. Where Harry sat was of no concern to her," revealed writer Richard Kay. By the way, William is not the Queen Mother's only favourite. She also constantly singled out Charles, who also warmly treated his grandmother and shared his worries with her.

No she left £19M to be divided between all her grandchildren. Harry received more than William because QETQM knew William would inherit the Duchy of Cornwall. Harry will also get the lions share of another £8M when he turns 40, though its rumoured the Princess Anne as trustee has delayed this happening (Harry is still receiving income from the £8M)
When Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon married the then Duke of York her family was richer than the Windsor family, so a lot of this would have been from her own inheritance from her family.

Wrong.
She left Harry more than what she left for william, since william was in line for being heir

William may have been her favorite, but it was Harry who inherited more than William because William would would inherit the Duchy of Cornwall and then the Duchy of Lancaster, whereas Harry would not. Diana also left Harry a bigger inheritance for the exact same reason. Also her wealth was only around 19 or 20 million pounds, not 100 million.

Favoritism brings up nasty seeds in families usually spanning more than one generation

She favored the heirs to the throne. The woman did live through several monarchs. I'd think her input to the heirs would be beneficial.

My husband's grandfather served in her guard. He was a Golden Gloves boxer, was proficient in fencing and an expert marksman. So, when he described her as "tough as nails" and "not given to sentiment" my husband believed him.

It must be nice to know you're going inherit 'old money'. She lived for so long because she never had to worry about paying for a single thing

Her concern was for the continuity of the House of Windsor as the Royal Family. A bit cold towards everyone else but it made sense to her.

She did the same with Queen Elizabeth.

It wasn’t about playing favorites. Her husband had had to take up the mantle of the monarchy unexpectedly when his brother abdicated the throne. He was not prepared as he had expected to remain the spare. She understood how important it was for the future monarch to be prepared for the job. She had a lot to teach both of the future Kings. It wasn’t favoritism, it was job training.

After the toll it took on her husband becoming King, following the abdication of the throne from his brother, she may have realized that the ones who have to sacrifice themselves the most are the future monarchs. From the time they are born they have no choices or very few. Any existing monarch knows who there replacements will be and I think it's natural that they would spend extra quality time with them to pass down and maybe still influence decisions long after they are gone. She was a great Queen who helped contribute greatly to the King's self assurance, not surprised she would pay close attention to King Charles and Prince William as they grew up.

Charles and William were both in direct line for the throne. Harry and Andrew were both spares.

She knew who counted...she was relentless w/ Elizabeth too. Even tho Elizabeth was ment to be just married off to a more important King. Margret didn't matter as 2nd place is the same as coming in last. Only 1st in line matters.

Why did Elizabeth have to cover her several million pound debts and overdrafts at the bank?

The Queen Mother left her racing debts for her oldest daughter to pay. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was also able to get back some of the jewellery belonging to the crown that her mother had kept . lending it out as she saw fit.

It's plain wrong. Also: The Queen Mother HAD TO publicly single out the heirs to the throne, Charles and William. Had she favoured Harry, or even treated them both the same, this would have been understood as doubting that William was up to the task of being king.

She was grooming the heirs. Charles and William. She was the one responsible keeping Wallis and Edward exiled. She was the want that didn’t let Camilla and Charles to married. She was the one that selected Diana as Charles’s wife. She was the one that later abandoned Diana and help make her life very difficult within the royal family. She was too attached to protocole. And thought that she was above everyone. No wonder she didn’t pay attention to Harry.
