I am saying AMEN for everyone to hear this! It's not about being insecure, it's about respect and pouring into the person that pours into you!
I was teaching a couples Sunday School Class years ago, and dear friends of mine were part of this class. The husband came in one Sunday and complimented how nice I looked that morning. I told him I appreciate his compliment but asked if he had given the same to his wife first? He was taken back. I said, I just want you to make sure she hears your compliments before you gives them to someone else. We are still great friends to this day and I have no doubt that he does pour compliments into his wife's bank, as does she for him. I didn't realize it then, but I was in a season of my life when I was watching my husband pour out everything I was giving him to everyone else except me. My bank was empty, but I just kept going because that's what you do. I just wanted to receive ithe same in return. I now see him being this person to his second wife. The great thing is, so does my second husband to me.
Thank you for saying this! So many couples need to hear this. It applies to husbands & wives, and parents to their children!! Pour into those closet to you first, that is your testimony.

My husband tells me asking for all of these things is selfish and presents a spirit of jealousy. Our marriage is absolutely awful. I'm about to walk away. My heart is truly broken right now.
