Taken from the mini-album of previously unreleased archive recordings, 'Designoid'. Songs and instrumentals, idiosyncratic as ever, and including a 21st century re-working of ‘Breakdown’, as originally featured on the Buzzcocks’ debut and seminal self-released EP, ‘Spiral Scratch’.

Twinned with the Buzzkunst album, 'Special Sauce', the 'Designoid' mini-album is out on Friday 5 July 2024.

I love this musical sound because it’s so different; it’s like feeling the wind in your face with grains of sand, and also the various sounds of music and life. I really love this futuristic sound. It’s a beautiful mystery sound, very earthy and sensual.

Howard Devoto / Designoid (2024) 4.3.25 2217pm bought myself a copy of the album today down Manchester... someone now needs to go and script a film re: young adult angst or raggedy comedic tragedies situated in a backwoods/backwards small town - rabid with small town minds. there's a 10inch by coil re: incidental music for the film hellraiser - which certain aspects of this collection of compositions reminded me of... that and the omnipresent and all knowing the residents music group/avant garde collective.... i'll get back to you on this. at time of writing - i am calm, unmoved, unmolested... certainly not throwing plant pots at the well done. magazine and luxuria hinted at such as this, though.... the buzzcocks isn't hereabouts in the slightest. strange world - the guys could have moved on to create magazine with the same line up as the buzzcocks and i doubt anyone would have noticed. devoto cracks the whip more than he lets on re: musical scores, i feel...
