The Ouran ED has an infamous guitar riff that plays right during the ending scenes of each episode before the actual song kicks in. It’s never part of the official song and listening to the song without that riff always felt incomplete for me. Hope you’ll get the chance to hear that part one of these days.

The lyrics of the NHK song are about wanting to be a baby because babies are loved unconditionally.
It fits the theme of the show which is about a depressed and delusional shut-in.
The song sounds humorous and mischievous because the speaker is tricking the adults into loving him and he's really into it.

13:46 actually childish is EXACTLY the word! The main character is a "child" and a evil one at that. Aoi Yuuki is the singer of the ED and the protagonist's VA, so she basically sings in character.

Fun fact... First ending song was singed by MC voice actress. Same VA in "So i'm a Spider so what?"

I love The Apothecary Diaries ending, however I also highly recommend doing a reaction to the first opening "Hana ni Natte". It really steals the show musically. One of my favorite openings of 2023

The thing about Ouran's OP (which is one of my favourite of all time, btw), is that the series came out in 2006.If you think about other popular series coming out at the time, like Naruto or FMA, this slightly post-punk "grungy" feeling in the guitar + drum + voice mixing is present there as well. I think it was the influence of how popular nu-metal was within the animé space, and the japanese 'kei' thing that was very popular at the time.

Welcome to the NHK is a story about depression. Of hardship, anxiety and just generally being in a dark place. And while the story is full of humor as well as depression,  it's a dark, gallows sort of humor

The first song was sang by the voice actress of the little girl in the picture..
Yuki Aoi had a few very manic / crazy songs under her belt. (not sure if they were all anime)

And Yuki herself is pretty tiny in real life, the actress, like 4'10" or something - but her voice carries and she is one of the biggest name in voice acting right now.

The Ouran video didn’t have the intro riff!! 😢 That first riff really makes a difference in setting the tone for that song.

43:33 "NHK" is a reference to the Japanese public broadcaster "NHK" (Nippon Hoso Kyokai). In _Welcome to the NHK_ the protagonist believes it's actually a secret conspiracy to turn people into shut-ins called "hikikomori", with the secret meaning being "Nihon Hikikomori Kyokai". As anyone who lives in Japan will tell you though, the only conspiracy the NHK is involved with, is trying to ambush you and make you pay television licence fees, *even though you don't watch the NHK, goddammit!*

The story of Welcome to the NHK is mainly about a shut-in NEET main character and his potential and gradual recovery journey with the help of other people. The lyrics of the ending theme is sort of satirical and is about the tragedy of that sort of lifestyle. The lyrics really hit me emotionally since im in that same lifestyle.

The megalo box ending is still rocking my playlist to this day, it has such a unique sound to it.

I appreciate how eloquently you say that some of these songs are.... "draining" as you put it. Definitely hard to analyze songs and want to critique something when you know that its SOMEONE's favorite. much respect that you still get your true thoughts across

The ending for Apothecary Diaries is really good but you missed the opening 1 which is arguably one of the best openings of 2023

Kakatte koi yo!! From Megalobox is repeated in the chorus and at the ending, translates to "Bring it on!" Which is super fitting for the boxing anime. I'd recommend giving it a watch!

If you had fun with Los! Los! Los!, I recommend looking up a lyrics video for it. The song, the chorus, and the inserted spoken word sections are an interesting juxtaposition with the music itself.

I absolutely adore the Dead Mount Death Play outro, the intro is also very good. The vocalist is actually the voice actor of the girl shown on screen, and is also the voice actor of Rem from Re:Zero. Fantastic show too, in my opinion. One of the most underrated from last year.

So the thing that is most impressive about the Tanya ED is that the VA is having to sing in the voice of Tanya. Tanya has a very distinct voice from the show and season 2 is the pipeline so we'll probably get another banger.
