Rotation Guide for Rocket League

Rotation is one of the hardest skills to understand in Rocket League. This is a Rotation Guide. This video covers how to rotate in any game mode. Rotation can be a skill that takes you to higher ranks without much practice or change. However mastering rotation can take thousands of hours of play time to fully understand how you need to rotate and how rotation works most efficiently

Rotation poem:
If you don't know where to be
and you don't know where to go
make sure that you rotate
all the way to back post
Rotation can be tricky
Rotation can be hard
if you do not pay attention
you will bump into other cars
Running out of boost?
Are you too far away
Rotate over pads
so you can stay close to the play
ROTATION!

"Trust your teammates as much as you trust yourself"... That's the problem, I don't trust myself xD

Excellent video, loved the range visuals.

Idk why Virge doesn't have more subs. He's literally the coach of a worldwide top 3 Rocket league team.

Only time I'm ever this early is when I challenge and they flick it over my head.

People don’t understand how important this stuff is. Out of everything in the game outside of just general consistency, THIS positioning skill will be the number one thing determining your rank. Every jump I’ve made, from plat to diamond to high diamond to low champ etc has always been because I got better at being in the right place at the right time. That’s all it is.

What’s so funny is the lower the rank the more to me people spend on shiny mechanics that do little to nothing to help gameplay besides look cool.

You just don’t see air dribbles in 3s. But hell if you go to gold everyone is doing all kinds of crazy stuff. But then you just sit there and wait for them to finish their easy to read shenanigans and now you have a fast break and possession bc that guy has no boost (at higher levels that’s like a 75% chance of a goal and why no one does that bs except in cas).

SAVE THIS VIDEO the man speaks truth. I always recommend Sunless’ WISaRL 2s and 3s rotation videos for the basics But this is a good 2nd watch for the basics. Plus there are some more advanced concepts in here too. Me like

I like how he casually roasts rocket sledges gameplay when he said “Tired of that kid that won’t rotate?”

Finally someone who explained rotations thoroughly with visuals I've never seen before.

7:30 in, right there is why so many good players I know aren't great players.

I had to re-watch this because I spent the first half of the video in awe of that new intro. Someone should program in that player coverage zone line into the Ball Chasing replay analyzer. That would be extremely helpful to have auto-generated on your teams replay.

This gave me such a "why you suck at rocket league" vibe and I love it so much

This is the most beautiful and correct guide to rotation I've seen. While most of the guides for rotation recommend certain positions and moves, this clarifies how rotation should be dynamic according to the players ranges. Awesome.

The visuals you give on spacing are groundbreaking for me and my team mate. Sometimes in duos we play almost flawlessly (given our max skill level) and then most games we struggle and couldn't figure out why. But comparing the scenarios given with our replays we noticed we weren't giving each other the right amount of spacing to maximize our coverage. Almost immediately we were getting scored on less and maintaining pressure for longer periods of time. I actually found it easier to keep pressure by spacing farther (within reason) versus trying to play at higher speeds which caused us to rotate around each other far too tightly. In sports I've always believed that the chemistry of a team can be good enough to beat the skill of a strong team, for example I grew up with the San Antonio Spurs from '02 to '16 and I think you can apply the concept of their spacing, ball movement, and most importantly off the ball movement to any sports game even RL.
Cheers man thanks!
And good luck on improving to all who are here

The use of visuals. Not falling for the curse of knowledge by diving too deep but rather weave in fundamentals like "prioritize the wellbeing of the team". Giving concrete numbers as guidelines for boost management. Reminding that trust goes two ways.

I really hope you're hella well paid, because this is world class. No matter what brain size I may possess I'm happily a new subscriber!

Ealier today on September 30th 2020 I was playing with some friends in a tournament. I was doing ok in fact better than I expected but after reaching quarter finals both friends got VERY upset that I didn't know how to rotate in the most efficient way possible. One even said "I WONT play with you no more if you can't rotate." I was extremely scared by then of losing a good friend. I looked up how to rotate and this (I hope) will really help me. I know some of the problems with my rotations and this covered the rest. Just this being the first video on your channel I watched I'm already subscribing, liking, and being not big brain, but MASSIVE BRAIN. If this does help me I want to thank you so soooo much for helping me recover an almost lost friend. This means a lot to me. Thank you!!!

I feel like this is the best thing to learn in the game. Also explaining it with space and coverage makes it really intuitive. This is how you rank up
