I honestly haven't watched the video. I was told I was prediabetic in late May by a neurologist from bloodwork taken in February. HBA1C was 6.5. I found out shortly after that this may as well be full-blown diabetic. The GP I had at the time never contacted me about the report from the neurologist, I am lucky for that as I never started taking any meds for T2D.
A new GP suggested I lookup Canadian nephrologist Dr. Jason Fung. So mid July I started IF and following a ketogenic diet without any support from the new GP . Six weeks later my HBA1C was down to 6.2 and I had lost the weight that the neuro suggested.
Currently I have lost just over 30 lbs. The symptom the GP sent me to the neurologist for in the first place has not disappeared, it has continued to occur, even spreading. The neuro said it was from the diabetes, I think it was an easy way to get me off of his "plate". They said to call back if my symptoms worsened, I did and he has agreed to see me in July 2020.
Our healthcare system in Ontario is so broken, no links between caregivers, old GP's that are too out of touch and clinicians are too busy to have time to support their patients enough.
Diabetes Canada should look into T2D being treated with diet, not pharma. It could save a lot of unnecessary suffering and save the healthcare system money.
