Rob, as a regular driver on the M1 and A1 can I make a gentle suggestion for your trips. Do all your vehicle checks e.g. oil, coolant, screenwash, fuel and tyre pressures before you leave? It doesn't take long and can save you a load of trouble later. Also I always carry a thermos of tea, torch, work gloves and waterproofs (coat and trousers) (plus jump leads, tow rope etc), I have only used them once but it stopped a problem becoming a disaster! Finally, if you're travelling 'in your home', stock up on food before you leave and maybe cook something and leave in a pot that you can quickly reheat when you arrive? All the best and keep safe.

Totally agree with you about services. My job has me driving long days or nights. No idea who the services cater for! Opening for decent food outlets everywhere

When you drive for a living and spend all your time on the motorways if you're not careful you end up having a diet of bad fast food because all the services have been hijacked by big fast food corporations.
