James Cleverly knocked out of Tory leadership race

Former home secretary James Cleverly is out of the leadership contest, despite a shock surge in votes yesterday.

Kemi Badenoch received the backing of 42 MPs, Robert Jenrick got 41 and James Cleverly had 37.

Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch are the final two candidates, and party members will decide their next leader in a ballot over the next three weeks.
