Wood is cheap and available. I’m looking into plastic crossties milled into 1” slats or possibly a overlay Concreat floor

1 inch marine plywood, sealed, it's a bit expensive but it will hold up to the water. Then paint it with a 2 part epoxy paint

Whatever you choose make sure your decking is sealed off with a very robust membrane and that the wood decking is able to dry from under neath. I would even go as far as to roll on a wood treatment let it dry and then cover with a robust membrane and a hardy tile might fair well. My biggest concern with a composite decking is the risk of water getting underneath it and sitting on that wood decking. I would advise a solution that is continuous. Like a concrete topping. You could boarder the edges with some 2x material, notching for the round steel which would give you a boarder to pour your topping into and give you more depth to allow for 2 1/4” topping with room to slope the water away from the pool.

That plastic deck boards that look like wood, no splinters, don't rot or split ect, bunch of colors ect, $Pricy yes only question is would stacking fake deck boards over real wood cause a rotting problem? because it's gona stay wet longer.

Could run a piece of angle iron down the pipe, chamfer the angle to fit how u like, stitch weld it and bolt angle down to edges of the wood, that’ll hide the edge/ make each transition smoother (imo) and u can use it as a height guide for a concrete overlay like ur possibly wanting

Composite decking, or what about some rubber mat?

A place near where i live makes composite decking. It holds up to water and doesn't rot. I think it's pricey stuff though

Theres a non skid material used on boat decks that the decks of our parasail boats had thats easy to apply, tough, durable and anti ass busting. Ill make a couole calls to get the name and let you know if youre interested in checking it out. You can also make it whatever color you want. I keep thinking its called seaweed but that isnt tge name. It would be a good choice.

Go with a good ward wood sand side up. Seal under lame both sides with used motor oil. And if you like the turn out of the underlayment due it t the finish layer just on installation do all sides and retreat as needed.

I’d sand the boards then stain it. Hopefully it’s treated wood then maybe an epoxy top on it?

A dog just put motor oil on it the water will literally just float off

Epoxy might work and it wouldn’t change the look of it

When using wood around water, burn the wood. Polish, burn, Polish. Always seal wood with its own blood/syrup.

Coat the wood with Henderson's paint.

Poly urea coating ..handa down..can make ot non slip..its waterproof ..used in evwrything fron water tower, pipes, floors u name it on an industrial level ..epoxy os like its cheap sister but epoxy sucks and has way less bennifits, also epoxy doesnt like uv at all ..trust me, poly urea ..even a poly aspartic coating would work

Get out your weed burner, burn the wood, put a wire brush in your grinder. Ash the wood down 3 years, three layers of flesh, brush, three years burn, brush.
