In this video we show you how to install a Wi-Fi connected relay to remotely open and close your garage door. It's a very simple process that doesn't take too long and it not a difficult task either.

Great video, cool project! At 3:42 you show the device in an enclosure. What did you use for one? Covering the back of the relay seems to be important to preventing inadvertent shorts.
Thanks again!

At 2:32 there's an extra half inch of bare wire hanging out the terminal block. Not a big deal in this case, it's just relay contacts. But if someone tries this with real voltage there will be guaranteed mayhem.

Hook it up in PARALLEL, not series. ..right?

great video. i did that with the regular sunoff, but it just works if you a visual of the garage door. the software does not show the state if it is open or closed. if you are away and you want to make sure you did not forget to close the garage door, you cant..

Thank you for the video, I did two similar to this (one for the garage door and another one for the gate) but I don't have the inching mode on smartthings and I had to add a routine for auto-off after 1 second.
Now I'm after a device that will give me an indication of the gate's situation.
The gate has limit switches and I want to use them for that purpose. All I need is a wifi device that whether the circuit is open or closed.
Do you know such a device?

Can this work on a Co-z sliding gate opener? And where on the board would the 2 wires go?

How does the motor know where to go? To the open position, or to the close position?

for this to work you have to be in the same Network, correct?

You said you were going to wire it in series with the wall mount switch wires. I think you mean parallel. It's a momentary switch remember.

I have a google smart light switch, can I replace the push button with the smart switch. The opener is a Liftmaster made in 2010 it functions with voltage from 24 volts to 240 any ideas on how to make it operate my door and the safety eyes still work.

Hi. Nice video. I have a problem. My garage unit has 6 wires connecting as up, stop, down, USD, something else and COM. Now where do I connect the cables and or will it work with mine ?

my garage door opener uses 4 wires. One is COM, the second one is for opening and the third one is for closing, and 4th one is to stop. Any way I can use this device? I know I could just plug it to the opening circuit but I wouldn't be able to close the garage from the app.
