Just saw an interview with Dj Snake explaining that Disco Maghreb was a label that promoted all the big stars of Rai (a type of music in Algeria) like Cheb Khaled, Cheb Mami and Cheb Hasni... back in the 80's. The store that you see in the video really existed in the city of Oran (the capital of Rai) and you can see the owner of the label opening the store. Dj snake is trying to share a part of the musical heritage of Algeria and there is soooo much to learn from that country. By the way Maghreb is in fact a time of prayer but it also means west and we also tend to call countries of North Africa " the Maghreb" because we are located west from the other Arabic countries

Disco Maghreb is a very known algerian disc edition : they launched very known algerian singers like cheb Khaled, cheb mami, cheb hasni and it’s closed now unfortunately : the guy who’s opening the shop of disco Maghreb is the boss . This is Algerian music for weddings and it’s a traditional music called alaoui. Dj Snake is from an Algerian mother and he has both algerian and French citizenship. He did this song for his Algerian people as a dedication. The end is Ched Khaled who’s singing .

It's Algerian music from Algeria, located in north Africa. Algeria is called the continent country, you can go to the desert, hike in the green mountains, relax on beautiful turquoise water beaches, sky on top of mountains 🤯 Inspired of Alaoui (upbeat rythm born in west Algeria in the 14th century) and Raï (slow beat at the end of the video) originated from Wahran (west of algeria). This song is a tribute to that golden era of Raï where legends were discovered in the 80's and 90's by the label Édition Disco Maghreb (the store and label reopened for the video by the owner himself Boualem) in the beautiful city of Wahran (Cheb Hasni, Cheb Mami, Cheb Khaled, we can hear him (Khaled) at the end.
