Testing My Dam 3D Printed Water Turbine

In this video, I dive into the details of my custom dam turbine project, built around a 3-inch diameter, 8-inch long PVC pipe inlet. This compact yet efficient design is perfect for harnessing water power. The turbine begins with a vertical 8-inch inlet pipe, which directs water through a 90-degree bend into the main motor pipe. This motor pipe features a split bracket system to securely clamp onto the assembly, along with an L-plate to mount the motor.

The motor itself drives a 20-tooth pulley, which is connected via a belt to an 8mm shaft. The shaft passes through a custom-designed cap with bearings for smooth rotation and includes additional bracing to prevent deflection under tension. A tee fitting allows the cap and shaft assembly to hold various pulleys for efficient energy transfer. Finally, water exits the system through a 4-foot outlet pipe, maintaining consistent flow and pressure throughout the process.

This turbine is a perfect blend of DIY innovation, precision engineering, and functionality, showing how even small-scale systems can efficiently generate power.

If you’re into hydro turbines, water power generators, or sustainable energy projects, this video has everything you need to start your own build. Stick around to see how all the components come together, and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more exciting projects!

Is your turbine at the top? Im pretty sure you want it at the bottom so you capture all that potential energy as kinetic.

Did you put the bucket under the outlet for any specific reason?

Ever think of combining you cable driven setup.. invertor spoked top ish.. to create reststrction and spin at the outlet.

Watch your outlet doesnt undercut the bank. Best to run it back into the mainflow

I hope you're able to get some free electricity from the water😊

The drag of the motor will slow the water down and the fish will drown.
