Lumia Day 5

This week we will be sewing up the Lumia Zip-Up Hoodie from Greenstyle Creations!
For this sew you are going to want a fabric that is a little heavier weight and not too much stretch. Frech Terry, Scuba, Ponte, Liverpool, and Athletic would all make AMAZING Lumia's! 😍😍
Today we are attaching our zipper, band, cuffs, and hood lining!
This took a little longer than I expected because of how many times you have to sew over the zipper. I understand why we need to sew over it a dozen times, but whew I wish I could have used a faster machine 🤣🤣
I will say, being more of a visual person I wasn't really sure how this was all going to come together at the end, but once I was sewing it up a lightbulb came on and I understood the process!
A couple of notes....
*When it comes to the band I recommend quartering it so that your stretching is even. Quarter it when you attach it, and also quarter and pin it when you fold it up and topstitch it down. I did not do this and had some twisting on my band that I had to iron out.
*There is a step that you need to sew all the way around the zipper, hood where it meets the neck, back down the zipper, and across the band. For some reason when I was sewing it up I misread that and did it slightly different in the video. 😬 It still worked out, I just think had I done it correctly it maybe would of saved a bit of time.
