Kin-dza-dza! (Russian: Кин-дза-дза!) is a Soviet dark science-fiction comedy released by Mosfilm studio in 1986. It was directed by Georgiy Daneliya, with a story by Georgiy Daneliya and Revaz Gabriadze. The film tells a story of two Soviet citizens (Vladimir Mashkov, aka "Uncle Vova" and Gedevan Alexidze, aka "the Fiddler") who accidentally travel through space to the star system known as Kin-dza-dza where they meet two aliens (Bi and Uef) in a post-apocalyptic world called Pluk.
The movie was made on a meager budget, with filming being done on construction sites of the Moscow metro and factories. Despite the initial mixed receptions the film solidified itself as a cult classic of Soviet cinematography and became a massive source of popular culture references.
