You shouldn't use cone wrenches (referred to as narrow 'head' in the video), on pedal axles, or anything else for that matter. Cone wrenches are delicate and should be dedicated to adjusting cones.

Hey Danny! I really like your channel. It is informative, interesting and very diverse. Like you, some of us love XC mountain biking. So it is nice to see stuff that isn't all about crashing down a mountain on a F.S. bike at full speed. I like to watch those channels too, but I learn more from you as I live on the Prairies (flat part). Keep up the great work! Winnipeg, Canada

thanks for your honesty and insight. I am looking into purchasing tools to do most of the work myself and this came at the right time. good luck at the nationals! best, rob

But add up the cost of the tools you want out the tool kit buying it separately.

Cable cutters Shimano TL-CT12 - $50
Chain Whip Shimano TL-SR22 - $40
Chain Breaker Shimano TL-CN28 - $20

and that's online pricing for a tiny portion of all the tools. For beginners who are serious about starting to wrench on their own bikes buy a quality tool kit. Yes you'll get tools that you won't use very often but you'll pay less as you're buying 'in bulk.' Same for when you buy a toolkit for your garage, buy that 300-500 piece toolkit - buying piece by piece you'll pay MORE for LESS tools.

Well, I just bought an awesome package off Amazon from Demon United. $99 USD got me a portable tool kit plus a solid bike stand plus a shop apron !! The one tool ( calibrated torque wrench) i had to buy separately almost cost the same amount. I was amazed at how good the Demon stuff is....was expecting junk for the low price.

This "normal narrow wrench" i called cone spanner and is not suitable for pedals (cone spanner - klucz do konusów)

This is a top video letting people know you don't need shimano or park tool full sets unless your a factory mechanic

Check the Super T Handle Metric set, a compact new design that solves the rotational problem when torque is not needed (at Amazon).

Whilst I agree in the most part, there is something satisfying about having a nice, clean set of tools in their own box!

love your un biased reviews mate, I have all the tools I need ( bought separately ) and I can re build a bike from scratch with them, I don't think it cost me 50 quid for everything ( I use hollow tech and square taper equally ), you can get a decent set of torx keys from Tesco for £5.00 and allen keys are included in that too, although I do use torque wrenches to tighten everything up, great review mate, keep them coming ;)

In my country it was cheaper to buy the set than the individual tools that I needed. And the bottom bracket is the right one in the set that i bought, so it was worth it for me.

Really appreciate your videos. Fairly unbiased and informative. You have thick skin brother...all the negativity would drive me ugga bugga. Keep up the good work.

you said that we don't need a pedal wrench which is wrong, on modern pedals we do, or at least a tool that is the same thickness. the tools you need or don't need depend on the specific bike. many mountain bike pedals need a tool like this, and you can't use a Allen key on the pedals.

I do not see the point in having the crankset removal tool, casette removal tool or bb removal tool attached to those handles. They could put a wrench in there that could fit those tools without extra handles in the kit. Instead of the wasted space (and resources), they could have added those tools that he showed in the end.

Yes where i live you need it... the bike shops here charge you even for putting air in tires :)) screw the mechanics here.

Thank you for the honesty Sir. I was wondering if tool kit is totally useful. But the answer is no. Because some of the tools is not a must.
