the Sock Runner from Balenciaga always shocked me with how polarizing they were. At the time, sleek knit sneakers like the roshe, a lot of Y-3 sneakers, and ofc Yeezy 350s. One of the times i felt Balenciaga was late to the game

IMO Raf's Adidas Ozweego pre-dated the Triple S, in terms of changing the trend to chunky dad shoe. But granted, Balenciaga did pioneer selling irony as a status symbol 😂

I feel like the Common Projects Achilles, Balenciaga Speed Trainer and Kanye West x Louis Vuitton should've made the list, . Then it'd be a top 10.

Still rocking ACES in 2023 :) Once they get beat up, I will repurchase in a heartbeat...

Qasa made me a sneaker head. And just exclusively Y-3 and Yohji Yamamoto enthusiast.

I wouldn't call the shoe "designer" per se.
The OSIRIS D3 it's probably one of the most iconic early 2000 street wear sneakers to ever be design.

The shoe itself looks futuristic. And anyone associated with hip hop, rave scene, skateboarding or just overall streetwear fashion would be able to identify these shoes from a mile away.

I feel like these shoes are the DEFINITION of early 2000s.

Every sneaker on this list is dope and iconic in some respect even if it's something I would never wear personally. But I have a major annoyance with high fashion sneakers of the past 10 to 15 years. First high-fashion is supposed to be aspirational. It's supposed to be "better". But with exception of the triple s, the casa, The FBT and a few others not mentioned on this list, most high fashion sneakers that reach peak popularity are only iterations of another shoe from a lower rung of the design hierarchy. That's just not as cool or as important or as innovative or as valuable as it is purported to be in my opinion. Growing up That wasn't what I fashion was about. It wasn't about getting expensive and exclusive virgins of cheaper and more accessible items. At least not from a sneaker perspective. It's like if Mercedes made their version of a Dodge neon 🤷🏿‍♂️. When high fashion sneakers ape low fashion sneakers all that tells me is that The original low fashion sneaker is actually the most valuable in most important regardless of what the price tag says.

Damn no Louis Vuitton Don collab or RAF Ozweego?

Also weren’t the Qasa just Adidas Tubulars?

0:51 - I fell in love with Y-3 for this aesthetic but they have since lost their touch. Sad.
