In the late nineteenth century, brutal land baron Seamus Laurent slaughters a Roma clan, unleashing a curse on his family and village. In the days that follow, the townspeople are plagued by nightmares, Seamus's son Edward goes missing, and a boy is found murdered. Around 1:10 you described “sluggish pacing”. That’s fine, you’re entitled to your opinion, but I disagree. I find films like this that take their time to develop atmosphere and storyline far more enjoyable than modern films that play like fast food on screen, with lots of bangs and action throughout. If that’s your thing and you think a film taking it’s time makes it a “bad movie” then each to their own. Personally I thought this film was pretty good, it had a few problems but overall it was certainly better than a lot of films you could describe as “bad movies.” It’s also nice to have a film that isn’t just a sequel or a remake, but again if that’s more your thing that’s all good.
