It's a money grab pure and simple. We were 1 kg over and they charged us around 100 dollars to put it in as a checked luggage so we doubled our clothing we were wearing and reweighed our luggage then after security put the extra clothes back into the carry on.

It has nothing to do with the overhead compartment's capability to hold an extra 3kg, it has nothing to do with speeding up the checkin process because the space being used is the same and it has nothing to do with injury.

If your video was true, It would be 7kg for over head baggage and no weight limit for personal baggage but it's not. It's not for safety, Its for a cash grab to squeeze your passengers for as much as possible!
