I use a tri-pointed handsaw when I go up for EVERYTHING under 10 inches, unless I have a lot of cuts over 10 inches. It is way safer, and u save time positioning your self

NEVER, NEVER, ever attempt to use a chainsaw with one hand, that is the most careless action concerning chain saws. If the saw kicks back, there's no way to stop it with one hand.
