[COVID-19 PANDEMIC]
April 27 marks the two-year anniversary of the historic Panmunjeom Summit between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. However, inter-Korean relations have hit a major stumbling block since then with North Korea reluctant to resume dialogue and human exchanges, having sealed off its borders months ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is despite Seoul’s continuous efforts to fulfill its pledges outlined in the Panmunjeom Declaration, including the completion of an inter-Korean rail link. We sit down with a pair of North Korea experts to discuss what might really be happening inside the reclusive regime.

문재인 대통령과 김정은 위원장이 판문점에서 처음 만난 역사적인 4.27 판문점 정상회담이 2주년을 맞았다. 한국 정부는 남북 철도 연결을 재추진 하는 등 선언에 대한 이행 의지를 다지고 대화를 이어갈 준비를 하고 있지만 일찍부터 국경을 폐쇄한 북한은 남한과의 당국자 교류 역시 극도로 꺼려하고 있는 상황이다. 현재 북한의 상황은 어떠한지 대북 전문가들과 분석해본다.
