The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards marked their return to Scotland with two homecoming parades. This one in Glasgow, followed by one in Edinburgh on 4 April.

Here the parade is accompanied by the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The salute was taken by the Lord Provost of Glasgow, Sadie Docherty, and the parade was followed by a reception in the City Chambers. The regiment will return to Fallingbostel in Germany, but will move to RAF Leuchars in 2015 as a Light Cavalry Regiment.

While visiting from the US, I spent some time in London talking with a former Royal Scots Dragoon. We learned we shared the same opinion on many things and when we parted he gave me a hug. One of my proudest moments! Sharing a moment of male bonding with a Royal Scots Dragoon! I am former USAF.

I worked for a year next to these guys' barracks in Bergen Hohne. Sad to see them go, but fantastic to see them being welcomed home like this. Much respect from Germany.

As an Australian I love that fine men and women do their job to protect me and my family with costs to their own family.
All I can say is I'm sorry for the fallen and those families that have to endure it.
From me Gary Martin I remember. Lest We Forget

My roommate at the New Kabul Compound in Kabul was a Royal Signals officer - his father-in-law passed unexpectedly and he was given an immediate emergency leave to return to England - he was picked up about 9pm by a detachment of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards who took him to Kabul International Airport to start the trip home. They were as competent and professional a group of men as I have met in over 30 years with the US Army.

From one who has served with my British Brothers in Arms in Iraq - may God protect you and your families - your nation and Her Majesty and family. British troops are honorable men and women - I pray your government wakes up to the onslaught of terror heading to your isle and that, as a nation, you face it and deter it. God Bless you all - and keep sounding those PIPES AND DRUMS!!!

As an Englishman may I say how proud I am to live in a country that is in a union with Scotland. Also proud of Wales & NI. Be independent if that is your wish but please stay in the union.

In another video someone commented on how the bass drummer never takes a break until the parade is over. Now I'm noticing it in every video. Hats off to bass drummers everywhere!
